Same here. This lake has done a total turn around in the past 6-8 years. With 27 28 in walleye they have been there for awhile. We always went to Lascour or Mc Owen too, ain't gonna go there no more. This is the whole picture. You guys have a great trip!!! Smallies on Rush!!! Who would have thought it!?

Thanks for the tips. Sounds like you had a real good trip. Thought maybe they would have changed a boat or two out. First time to Rush (and we've been going since '92) that we are gonna target walleyes. Have caught the odd one in the main lake, usually go to Lasacur for that, but NEVER caught a smallmouth in there except for McOwen!

Kwags, all I can say have your boots and bailing bucket, but the motors are fine, rather have a power source than row!!! No need to go NORD!! Allthe fish are on the main lake. If ya just gotta go NORD the water is low, have your paddle handy. Fish the out side of the two islands north of the cabin, hug in at 12-15 feet follow the rocks out, smallies and wallies are there. Jig the big rock across from the cabin,12-20 feet troll south west on the shelf from that island to the main shore again 20 ft. South look for the 2 islands before the bay where the trapper cabin is line up with the bow of the boat pointing tward the "beach" like you were gonna go back to the cabin, about 200-300 yards out (you will be heading east) there is a submerged island, small but it is there the big walleyes came from there. We had to troll because the wind was fierce. The group before us said they had luck jigging the area outside the Rice river, again the wind kept us out of jigging, but trolling was the ticket.

How were the Boats? I've heard reports of leaky boats this year on Rush. Have they fixed/changed out? Did you try to get north at all? Is it possible this year with the low water? Sorry for all the questions.

5 more sleeps and then we're off!

Hoselayer,I can't give you the low down on Rush right now....but let me say that since my first trip with George was to Rush in 1990, I'm old, I have seen this lake do a total 180 from a trophy pike to a contender tropy walleye lake. The proof is ...27.5 in. two 26 in two 25 in walleye, with all released also I feel I lost at least 2 that were either in the rocks or were larger and smarter.Just for fun we had 2 15 in. small mouth and 4 smaller. Pike were 26 to 30 in. Much larger seen on sonar in deep holes. As for locals, didn't cross any this year, but have seen them in prior years. Mostly south,as that is where the boat access is. Wind was on us this year, we trolled mostly, big fish came trolling, we found deep water, rocky ledges, and weed beds all close to each other....and bingo there the fish were. And yes we did find them all over the lake, Rush is a great choice, just get a topo map and study it. Fellow fish hunters,

As stated in the topic, I have questions on many lakes/outposts. As many of you may know, we have spent the last 5 years fishing Lemoine with great success and 1 year prior at Bonar with the same success. It has come up from year to year to switch lakes, but we love Lemoine so much because it offered everything we wanted. It has come time however, to move on and explore the other wonderful lakes we hear so much about at AI. So, any and all help will be greatly appreciated. I will leave the questions open with as much info as I can remember to add for you. Please feel free to give as much input as you would like. This is a big decision for us and I'd like to make it as well educated as I can.

Here we go:

Rush Lake:
              1. It is listed as a N & B lake, however many of you state there are Walleye everywhere. Is this truely a Walleye lake (eyes are a must for us!)??
              2. It is also listed that it has a private cabin and "limited access" by road. Has anyone ever encounter others at this retreat??

Oswald/Beattie Lakes:
              1. How far a walk is it between the 2? Are group is considering booking both....
              2. The fishing is well documented on Oswald with great reports, but Beattie lacks much info. Hows the fishing there?

Riverside:
              1. Says its close to Alcorn & Grassy Lakes, are these walk in or boat to lakes?
              2. How often do you run into fishermen from other groups?

Biggs:
              1. Would like a little more info on cabin, such as # of bedrooms and such. Seems like a good lake...

McConnell:
              1. Would like some recent info. Not much has been posted, if any for the '09 '10 seasons.

Lincoln:
              1. One bedroom?Huh

Also, if you have any other suggestions for a group that walleye are a must for 75% and trophy pike are a must for 25%, let me know. I believe the party is willing to give up the VIP cabin for a year to try for the wall hanger, but I have never seen a post showing 50" pike on this site. LOL I know and completely understand this isn't the area of Canada for that! I will be more than satisfied to put them on 40" pike with some frequency as long as I'm still getting my eyes!!

Thanks again to all and happy fishing!

Our group followed Hoselayer's group into Lemoine. The water level continued to decrease all week. When the Beaver bushplane is at the dock, the wing is literally about 3 feet over the dock - I would guess the water level to be down about 5 feet. We did have much cooler weather most of the week, along with big winds. We also had very tough fishing - had to really work for them. Four guys - We finished with 368 fish ( about 250 walleye ) - our bigger walleye were also caught at Hidden Lake ( by the way, whoever blazed this trail must have been hitting the Crown Royal hard ... quite a twisty trail ). We also remarked several spots on this trail with orange tape as it can be a bit of a struggle coming through at dark. Our group didn't get into anything big - biggest walleye about 22 in and biggest pike about 29 in. We were lucky to get flown out Saturday as some really bad weather moved in and suspended flying for the day - we were one of about 3 groups that made it out that day. Everyone else had to sit until Sunday. We attempted to make it back to Ivanhoe three different times before finally making it - the first two times we had to head back to Lemoine due to thick fog and wait it out.

We also would return to Lemoine as it has plenty of water with some very deep holes and a large cabin.

Tight Lines,
Dan
